MacToolKit

The small tools macOS doesn't ship, in one menu-bar app.

Problem

macOS has no window snapping, no clipboard history and no way to switch between individual windows: Cmd-Tab only cycles apps. The usual answer is five separate utilities.

What we built

  • Window snapping to halves and quarters, plus maximise and centre.
  • A window switcher on ⌥Tab with live thumbnails of every open window.
  • Clipboard history with search; picking an entry pastes it.
  • A launcher on ⌥Space, and a toolbox with a colour picker, keep-awake and pin-on-top.
  • Per-app volume control, in progress.

Design choices

  • One native app with one settings window, instead of wrapping existing tools.
  • Each tool switches on and off by itself, and asks for permissions only when first used.

Result

Five tools working day to day, built as a Swift package with no dependencies.
